Today I decided to bowl the #12Bagger event in Shallote NC. This is absolutely one of my favorite bowling centers to bowl in. The hosts are always the most gracious people and they truly have the bowlers interest at heart. We bowled on a 35ft “Logo Infusion” pattern that played very tough for most of the bowlers. Lately, I’ve been working of seeing the lanes front to back opposed to left to right. Today, it was all about getting your ball to read the lane in the right spot. Ball speed consistency was key a little hard and it blew through it, and a little soft and it had no chance of holding.
I threw a Fanatic SS with the pin on the axis for the first few games and managed to shoot 240 the second game. The third game it went away and I made bad shots and BAD BALL choice’s towards the end that cost me the game. I shot 140. With nothing else I decided to throw a Diva Divine which helped me save the block with 200 and 240 the last game as well.
In matchplay, I used a Melee Hook the first match. The second match I battled shutting it down and slippery approaches and managed to get by throwing a Danger Zone Black Ice. In the title match we used a pair that was MUCH tighter and I was able to move right and ball up and just made excellent shots to help me win 223-180.
On the way home as I reflected on the day there are a few things that come to mind.
1. A dear friend was in the worst mindset today and it showed me just how far I have come as a player in this sport. Months ago that was me and I’m glad thats the OLD me.
2. This sport absolutely has the biggest hills and valleys of any sport I know. There was a kid today who I talked to who was way out of it. 4 Games laster he found himself bowling for the title. Thats exactly how a simple mindset change can help anyone.
3. I have to be the luckiest person in the world. I get the chance to so what I love to do at the highest level. There are some people in this world who never find happiness in anything. I’m so thankful for all my friends and family. Their support is the best thing in my life. All my accolades would not even be possible without you guys!! I wish everyone could feel some of the feelings I’ve had over the years. Its truly incredible.
